Azure Lion Productions is the professional alter-ego of Richard H. Fay, an author, artist, and poet inspired by history, myth,
and legend.  His passion for classic fantasy literature led to an intense interest in the history, culture, and warfare of the
medieval period.  His love of classic horror stories influences his darker works.  He is also fascinated by traditional folklore,
especially the fouler side of the "fair folk".

Richard's diverse but interconnected interests inspire his artistic endeavours.  He writes fantasy, science fiction, and horror
prose and poetry.  He's been composing prose and poetry since the 1980s.

Richard's artwork reflects his love of imagery associated with knights, castles, dragons, and other medieval subjects.  His
work is strongly influenced by 19th century illustrations, and often includes details gleaned from years of amateur research
into historic arms and armour.  He's been drawing dragons and monsters as long as he can remember, but he first began
selling his art professionally in 1998.
Richard was born in a small town in Upstate New York.  At an early age he showed a penchant for story-telling, often
play-acting very elaborate scenarios.  He began to develop some of his ideas into written tales while he was in high school in
the 1980s.  Inspired by the classics of the sword and sorcery genre, Richard created his own medieval-style fantasy world
populated by a diverse range of characters and creatures.

Even though he showed promise as a writer, Richard decided to pursue a science career.  He graduated with honors from
Hudson Valley Community College in 1989 with an Associate Degree in Science, and later graduated
summa cum laude
from SUNY Albany in 1992 with a Bachelor Degree in Science.  He then went to work in various science and health labs,
but never lost his passion for writing and drawing.

In 1998, Richard felt that his life needed to take a different direction.  He started Azure Lion Productions and eventually left
his job as a health lab technician.  Around the same time he decided  to educate his young daughter at home, a responsibility
that he continues to perform to this day.  He  sold his artwork at various arts and crafts shows, and also began looking more
seriously at the possibilities of a writing career.  He started composing speculative poetry and illustrations for publication.
Currently, Richard is a member of the Science Fiction Poetry Association.
